Drafting A Junior Research Paper Title Page: Simple Guidelines

A title page is the face of your junior research paper. Therefore, it must be created with extreme care. This shouldn’t be difficult if you know exactly what to do. The tricky part is the fact that there are so many guidelines and requirements for title pages that it might be difficult to understand what exactly is expected of you.

In order to make sure that you are doing everything right, you will need to take the following steps:

  1. Study the format requirements.
  2. You will be assigned a certain format for your junior research paper. The most common options are APA, MLA, and Turabian. Each has its own unique set of requirements towards titles. Therefore, the first thing you should do is to find an official guidebook for the writing style you need to use and study it carefully.

  3. Settle the details with your professor.
  4. Despite the fact that there is a set of formal requirements for every academic writing format, many schools have their own demands towards the papers created by their students. It’s imperative to discuss these details with your teacher in order to make sure that you know what exactly is expected of your work. You can find some samples on the school’s official website or in the library.

Although the style and content of the title page will vary depending on the writing style, there are some common guidelines you can use when working on this piece of your project:

  • Come up with a good title.
  • The name of your junior research paper is very important. It must make an impression on the readers right away. It’s not easy to achieve this effect with only a few words. The title must be concise and to the point. It should focus on the core idea you are going to present in the work.

  • Don’t include a page number.
  • The only exception to this rule is an APA style paper, which doesn’t have a separate title page. In this case, you should start numeration from the very beginning.

  • Include the names of your course and subject.
  • Perhaps you will need to provide some additional school-related information. However, these two names are a definite must have in any situation.

  • Write your name.
  • It’s strange, but students sometimes forget this obvious detail. You will need to write your full name on the title page and, perhaps, include your initials in the running header for the rest of the paper.

  • Don’t forget to write the date.
  • Ask your teacher what date you need to write here.
